Educational Qualifications for TNMAWS Recruitment 2024 for Assistant Engineers and Town Planning Officer
| Assistant Engineer (Planning) | Must possess a degree in Planning or Civil Engineering or Architecture or any other qualification considered equivalent thereto awarded by any Recognized University or Institution. Provided that preference shall be given to those who have completed Master Degree in Planning. |
| Town Planning Officer Grade II / Assistant Engineer (Planning) (Municipality) | Must possess a degree in Planning or Civil Engineering or Architecture or any other qualification considered equivalent thereto awarded by any Recognized University or Institution. Provided that preference shall be given to those who possess Master Degree in Planning. |
| Town Planning Inspector / Junior Engineer (Planning) (Municipality) | Must possess a Diploma in Civil Engineering or Degree in Planning or Diploma in Architecture from any institution: Provided that preference shall be given to those who possess Post Graduate Diploma in Town Planning. |
SELECTION PROCEDURE : TNMAWS Recruitment 2024
Selection will be made in two stages i.e.,
- (i) Written Examination and
- ii) Interview. The final selection will be made on the basis of the total marks obtained by the applicants at the written examination and interview taken together subject to the rule of reservation for appointments.
- Applicants’ appearance in the written examination and interview is compulsory.
- The applicant who has not appeared for any of the subjects in the written examination or interview will not be considered for selection, even if he/she secures the minimum qualifying marks for selection.
- The successful candidates are called for interview in the order of merit in accordance with the communal reservation.

Exam Pattern – TNMAWS Vacancy 2024
The exam will use an OMR sheet to answer objective-type, multiple-choice questions.
- Those who are appearing for Assistant Engineer (Planning) posts in Corporations and Town Planning Officer Grade-II / Assistant Engineer (Planning) posts in Municipalities possessing a degree in Civil Engineering will write Paper I – Civil Engineering (Code No.101).
- Those who are appearing for Assistant Engineer (Planning) in Corporations, Town Planning Officer Grade-II / Assistant Engineer (Planning) posts in Municipalities and Town Planning Inspector / Junior Engineer (Planning) posts in Municipalities and possessing degree in town planning will write Paper I – Town planning (Code No.104) and they should write Paper – II General Studies in Degree standard (Code No.301) as well as Paper –II General Studies in Diploma Standard (Code No.401).
- Those who are appearing for Assistant Engineer (Planning) posts in Corporations and Town Planning Officer Grade-II Assistant Engineer (Planning) posts in Municipalities and possessing a Degree in Architecture will write Paper I –Architecture (Code No.105)
